Not long ago, there was such an incident: a mother took her child to the park to play, but suddenly a fierce dog appeared out of nowhere and lunged at the child. The mother protected her child by holding them close. Because the mother was wearing pants that exposed her calves at the time, her legs were unprotected and were bitten by the fierce dog. Therefore, when we encounter unfamiliar dogs on the road, we must pay attention to how to ensure the safety of ourselves and our children.

So how can we avoid babies being attacked when we meet fierce dogs? First, do not let the dog be alone with children. Although some dogs have a better temperament, children often do not know how to handle them gently. If the child hurts or hurts the dog, it is very likely to be attacked by the dog. In addition, when going out shopping and seeing others walking their dogs, do not let children rashly touch the dogs. Instead, ask the owner for permission and only touch under your supervision. When taking children for walks, do not let them run around randomly because running often easily angers dogs, who will chase the children, which is very dangerous. We all know dogs are very sensitive to fast-moving objects; the more the child runs, the higher the potential danger.

Additionally, we must teach children how to get along with dogs to avoid children being bitten as much as possible. Most babies are usually interested in dogs, so when meeting a dog, parents should make sure the dog has a good temperament. If the dog doesn’t mind, you can let the baby gently pat it. But you must watch the baby carefully and never let him out of sight because dogs’ moods are unpredictable. Once a child does something that harms the dog, it is very likely to be attacked by it.

Do not disturb dogs when they are sleeping or in other situations

Also, educate your children well not to touch dogs recklessly. For example, do not pull their ears or tails indiscriminately, and never hit a dog. These actions can make the dog uncomfortable or worsen its temperament. Moreover, do not disturb dogs when they are eating, sleeping, or feeling unwell.

When children play with dogs, they should keep movements quiet and not run suddenly. If you meet an unfamiliar dog, ask the owner if the dog is friendly and whether it can be touched. If permission is given, first use your fist to test the dog so that if the dog suddenly attacks, your fingers are protected. It is best not to approach a tied-up dog because such dogs usually do not have their owners nearby, and the owner probably tied them up because they believe the dog does not have a good temperament. Therefore, do not let children easily contact them.

But accidents will always happen. If a child is bitten, what should be done? First, wash the wound. Rinse the wound immediately with running water and squeeze the wound to expel some blood, which helps wash away toxins as much as possible. It is recommended to wash with 20% soapy water continuously for about half an hour. Then disinfect with iodine, followed by alcohol to wipe off the iodine, repeating three times.

Then get vaccinated against rabies. Do not think it’s nothing and avoid spending the money. If the disease really develops, it can take the child’s life. When encountering dogs on the road and wanting to greet them, first determine the dog’s temperament. If the dog is hostile to strangers, it’s best not to contact the dog, especially for children. In addition, do not provoke any dog because this very likely causes the dog to retaliate; the only one who will get hurt is yourself.
