Do you know the most correct management methods for Golden Retrievers?
Golden Retriever
Golden Retriever (Detailed Introduction) is one of the most ideal dog breeds for many people. Golden Retrievers have an easy-going personality, loyalty, and are intelligent. They are perfect companions for humans, but do you know the correct management methods for Golden Retrievers?
1. Hot Regions
Due to their special skin structure and hair characteristics, Golden Retrievers cannot tolerate hot and humid environments and need extra care. Take them out for a walk in the early morning when the weather is cooler. Also, Golden Retrievers love playing in water. When kept outdoors, move the doghouse to a place not exposed to direct sunlight and keep it clean at all times.
2. Cold Regions
Generally, Golden Retrievers have a cold-resistant constitution, so there is no need to worry too much. But in cold seasons, feed them high-protein, high-calorie dog food. To avoid cold wind blowing directly on the dog, you can surround the dog’s kennel with blankets or carpets.
3. Indoor Feeding
Diet: Provide high-quality dog food at fixed times. Absolutely do not let Golden Retrievers eat human food.
Excretion: Since dogs mostly engage in outdoor activities, they can be trained to eliminate outdoors. It takes effort to train a puppy's excretion habits, but even if raised in an apartment, you must take them outdoors to relieve themselves.
4. Outdoor Feeding
Keeping a Golden Retriever outdoors is quite risky. Therefore, at night, you can place the doghouse at the porch to help the dog gradually get used to the outdoor environment. Even in your own yard, it is dangerous to let them roam freely. So, you can use a foldable activity fence to create a safe play area specifically for the dog, so it can play happily. Always have someone watch when they are playing in the yard or outdoors.
Skin diseases are a major concern for Golden Retrievers. Be very careful in humid weather. After getting wet or bathing, make sure to dry them thoroughly. If conditions permit, spray some insect repellent before going out. The Golden Retriever’s coat color does not easily show dirt, and their deep fur makes daily brushing important to inspect and detect skin problems early for timely treatment.
