Shandong Lion Cat

　　1. Preparation

　　Place a plastic basin as a toilet near the nest. Spread 3-4 cm of absorbent bedding such as sand, sawdust, or ashes inside the basin, and put a layer of bedding with the kitten's feces on top.

　　2. Training

　　When you see the kitten circling anxiously, it is a sign that it needs to defecate. Quickly bring it to the toilet basin and let it smell the bedding inside. Soon the kitten will defecate. Afterward, the kitten will use its front paws to cover the feces with the bedding, sometimes covering half and leaving half uncovered.

　　When you find the kitten has finished defecating or see small piles of bedding inside the basin, promptly discard the bedding, clean the basin, and replace it with fresh bedding. During training, after cleaning the basin, leave a small amount of bedding with the kitten's feces to help it recognize its own scent; otherwise, the kitten might not use the basin next time.

　　3. Pay Attention to Cleanliness

　　Although cats are very clean and can be easily trained to use a toilet basin, the basin must be cleaned regularly, and bedding needs frequent replacement. Cat feces produce especially unpleasant odors. Therefore, for urban residents, training cats to use the flush toilet can achieve multiple benefits.

　　4. Training to Use the Flush Toilet

　　Before training, place a plastic board or wooden board under the toilet seat, and spread an appropriate amount of bedding such as sand, ashes, or sawdust on the board. When the cat shows signs of needing to defecate, bring it to the flush toilet. Soon it will defecate there. After the cat gets used to using the board with bedding, gradually reduce the amount of bedding so that the cat slowly develops the habit of standing on the toilet seat to defecate. Then you can remove the board.

　　During training, people should avoid using the flush toilet; bedding should be changed frequently, generally once a day. If the cat refuses to use the toilet after falling inside it, training must start over from the beginning.
