Six Tips to Make Cats Happy Indoors

1. Interesting Toys
Hanging fuzzy mice and laser pointers, these toys can excite even the laziest cats. Around-the-clock favorite toys make cats dancers and transform them into magicians.
2. Scratching
Cats love to scratch things. This helps wear down broken nails, stretch muscles, and mark their "territory." The best way to save your furniture is to provide plenty of "approved" items for them to scratch. Scratching boards, cardboard boxes, and the creatively designed "cat track" (a plastic channel lined with scratching pads containing a ball) are also great options.
3. Provide a Room with a View Outside
Windows are cats' TV—placing a bird feeder by the window can entertain cats for a long time. If the windowsill isn’t wide enough, you can make or buy a soft-padded perch to place on it. Note: Ensure the window is secure enough so cats won’t slip off. Also, roll up curtains and other items to prevent cats’ legs from getting caught.
4. Hallways Can Also Please Cats
A closed porch or a windowed alcove is a great place for cats to safely connect with nature. If your yard has a fence, another good method is to install netting on the fence to keep cats safely within your yard.
5. Walking Your Cat
Yes, you can train your cat to walk on a leash, but be sure to use the lightest, recyclable leash and connect it to a harness rather than a collar. Let your cat get used to wearing the harness indoors before taking it outside for adventures.
6. Plant Catnip All Over the Yard
Cats will slowly sample the catnip and roll in it. Other healthy treats include wheatgrass, alfalfa, and oats. (Source:PetsZone)
