Introduction to Methods to Prevent Cats from Eating Cockroaches
Folded Ear Cat
According to research, currently there is no evidence showing that eating cockroaches is harmful. However, cockroaches carry many germs inside them, and if a cat eats one, it may become infected inside; it may also be expelled through feces. If the feces are exposed in the home or come into inadvertent contact with people, it could become a source of disease. Therefore, it is best not to let cats eat cockroaches.
Before the cat puts the cockroach into its mouth, you must stop it in time. Then quickly pinch the cockroach with a tissue and throw it into the toilet. At this time, you should punish the cat promptly, for example by tapping its nose tip or gently patting its head, and your verbal tone must show disapproval. This is the only way for the cat to know that eating cockroaches is wrong.
If it is too late, be sure to clean up the dense feces promptly, and avoid touching it with your hands. If your hands are accidentally soiled, be sure to disinfect them promptly with medicated soap.
