How to Teach Cats to Use a Litter Box?
To get a cat familiar with using a litter box, it requires training over a period of time. Of course, training a cat to use the litter box is not very difficult; experienced caretakers can easily accomplish this. Below are some clever tips to teach cats to use the litter box, which you can refer to and learn from.
First, prepare a litter box for your cat. Note that this litter box should be placed in a fixed location and should not be moved around randomly. (You can make the litter box yourself or buy one online. Of course, you should also purchase some litter and spread it inside the box. The cost of both litter box and litter is not too much.)
Second, slowly guide your pet cat to get familiar with the litter box. You can place the cat in the litter box, then gently pat its head and rear, letting it look and smell this place by itself; help the cat gently dig in the box with its paws to show it that this is the place to use the bathroom.
Third, be observant of your pet cat and notice its excretion habits. Each time it is about to relieve itself, immediately take it to the litter box and encourage it to go. Through actual training and excretion, the cat will learn how to use the litter box.
PS: Cats are very clean animals. Therefore, the used litter box must be cleaned promptly. Also, to help the cat become familiar with the litter box, during cleaning, you can leave some of the cat’s urine or feces smell in the box (note the smell should not be too strong, just a little), so it attracts the cat and encourages it to go to the litter box when needed, really learning to use the litter box.
