How Do Siamese Cats Grow and Reproduce?

What to do if cats don't eat in hot summer? What are the reasons?

Sexual maturity is early; female cats come into heat for the first time at 5 months old. The heat cycle occurs every two weeks, continuing normally in autumn and winter without stopping. Siamese cats are more prolific than other domestic cats. Siamese cats have strong reproductive abilities, producing two litters a year, with each litter having 5 to 6 kittens. Generally, mixed-breed cats live longer than purebred cats, but Siamese and Chinchilla cats are exceptions (Siamese cats are purebred but live longer, while Chinchillas are mixed-breed but live shorter). Neutered cats tend to live longer, obese cats have shorter lifespans, and cats fed balanced nutritional cat food or canned Siamese cat food live longer than those fed leftover food. Scientifically fed Siamese cats can live as long as 12 to 20 years.

However, clinical studies show that regardless of aging speed, once cats are over 6 years old, organ functions begin to change significantly. Many diseases common in elderly cats tend to occur after 6 years. Like humans entering their twilight years, pets also transition from playful cuties to slow-moving elders.

Like humans, senior pets prefer a comfortable life and should not be forced to do things they dislike. Compassion should be shown towards their behavior. Siamese cats’ reproductive organs have significant defects compared to other cats; timely neutering can prevent most reproductive organ diseases.

  Common Diseases in Siamese Cats

    Flu

Flu is a viral disease usually transmitted through contact between cats. Antibiotics are ineffective against viruses; treatment generally focuses on relieving clinical symptoms and improving cats’ immunity with balanced nutrition until natural recovery. However, vaccination is a preventive measure against flu.

Cats with this disease show symptoms of a severe cold and may have ulcers on the surface of the eyes or mouth. Cats rely on smell to stimulate appetite, and flu causes olfactory impairment, reducing food intake. Some cats never fully recover and become chronic flu sufferers or "nasal congested" cats. Kittens often suffer the most severe cases and may die without careful care. To help kittens resist this disease, they need vaccination, and adult cats require annual booster shots.

    Enteritis

This disease is very dangerous, especially for kittens. Symptoms include lethargy, loss of appetite, vomiting, dehydration, and diarrhea. If a mother cat gets this disease during pregnancy, her kittens may show neurological damage symptoms. The enteritis virus can survive for up to a year in certain environments, like the flu. Recovered cats may become carriers of the enteritis virus. Additionally, kittens need to be vaccinated according to professional veterinarians’ advice, and adult cats should receive annual boosters.

    Parasites

Prevention: Fleas and lice are two common cat parasites, usually contracted through unclean living environments or contact with other flea-infested animals. Infection can lead to other diseases with serious consequences. To prevent this, frequently bathe cats with appropriate shampoo for good results. Also, maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the cat's living environment.

Deworming: If you find lice on your cat but it has no obvious symptoms, remove the lice and closely observe the cat’s behavior for several days. If coughing, vomiting, vocal changes, or abnormal gait appear, take the cat to a hospital immediately.
