What to Do If Your Dog Is Sensitive to Sounds?

Dogs not only have a more sensitive sense of smell than humans, but their hearing is also more acute. Sometimes, we use this keen hearing to serve us. However, as household pets, some dogs are overly sensitive to sounds. When there is thunder or fireworks, they become very restless, barking chaotically to express their insecurity. If this is the case, it can be very troublesome for the owner. So what should we do?
If your dog has very sharp and sensitive hearing, sounds that seem normal to us may be abnormal to them. If your dog has problems because of sound sensitivity, you can try putting some cotton in its ears. Of course, we cannot keep cotton in the dog's ears 24/7. Only when the dog is scared, such as during fireworks or thunder and lightning, give it a little cotton to reduce sound stimulation and make it less sensitive.
Another method is to let the dog get used to these sounds. Some owners try to expose their dogs from a young age to the sounds that make them sensitive. For example, telephone rings, doorbells, firecrackers, etc. Start with the smallest, least stimulating sounds and the weakest level of training, gradually helping the dog become familiar with these sounds and understand that under normal circumstances, these sounds cannot harm them. Over time, the pet will grow up and not be so afraid of these sounds.
The last method is for the owner to be more attentive. Because dogs are naturally averse to noise, changing this nature seems unlikely. So whenever sudden and irregular loud noises occur, and the dog becomes restless and anxious, the owner should comfort the dog, distract its attention, or hold the dog to provide enough security. Over time, the dog will naturally be less sensitive to these sounds. This only applies if the dog shows signs of fear toward sounds; dogs that do not react at all do not need this.
If your dog is sensitive to sounds, why not try the methods above?
