What are the taboos for autumn grooming of pet dogs?
Dogs do not need daily baths because their sebaceous secretion is less than humans; frequent bathing not only washes away the protective skin oils but also increases the chance of dogs getting skin diseases. Owners should also avoid using human shampoo for convenience because the alkalinity of human shampoo is too strong and will similarly affect the dog's sebaceous secretion. If a dog is accustomed to cold water baths from a young age, that can be beneficial for health. However, for puppies and dogs not used to cold water, it may easily cause colds. When autumn weather turns cold, do not cut the dog's fur too short. If the coat is trimmed too thinly, the dog will lose its natural cold-proof barrier, and even dressing them in clothes will not keep them warm. Sometimes the smell on a dog’s body can be strong, but owners must not use human perfume to mask the odor because human perfumes contain high alcohol content that can irritate the dog’s skin, possibly leading to skin diseases. Good fur care is a long-term process. Owners must persevere; otherwise, all efforts will be wasted.
