Is the Akita Dog Powerful? Don’t Be Deceived by Its Appearance
The Akita dog is also called the Shiba Inu and comes from Japan. I remember there is a movie about the Akita dog's story called "Hachiko: A Dog's Story." The Akita dog is the largest fox-like dog breed in all of Japan. It is also very popular in Western countries. The Akita dog is very brave and fierce, with very sharp senses. It is extremely loyal to its owner and has an intelligent mind. It can resist cold weather and helps its owner guard the house and hunt. It often follows its owner to capture prey. So, is the Akita dog powerful? Obviously, this question is beyond doubt!
The Akita’s size is neither too big nor too small. One characteristic is that its tail is not straight but curled into a small circle resting on the back. Its ears are always upright. From its appearance, you can see that the Akita dog has a relatively large head, and its facial expressions are rich and diverse, practically a walking emoji. Although it is not big in size, its muscles are indeed very firm, strong, and powerful, with a very solid skeletal structure. The Akita dog looks like it has a lot of fur, but actually, it has a double coat. The outer layer of fur is thinner, tougher, and longer than the inner layer, so it can cover the inner coat well.
The Akita dog ranks among the top sixty in dog intelligence. It is very suitable to be raised as a family pet because its loyalty is high. It will not misbehave and listens well to its owner, showing very high obedience. It is steady in its actions. But one thing for sure is that since the Akita was originally a hunting dog, it has a wilder nature than other dogs. Although very loyal to its owner, it is not very friendly to other dogs nearby. We need to put in more effort during training to give proper guidance.
Although the Akita dog is very powerful, we still need to pay attention during the raising process! Even though the Akita’s fur is not long, we still have to groom it daily and take it out for walks often to let it release its natural wildness. Special attention should be paid to its living environment because if it is too dirty, it could get filarial disease. Regarding diet, do not feed it foods that are hard to digest.
