How to Train a Dog to Go Out for Defecation
Keeping a dog has now become the choice of many young people. Because living alone in a city without friends, if you have a dog, you can often take it out to play. You may meet many friends who also walk their dogs, which could help us meet more friends. If single, you might even get out of being single, or it could greatly benefit our career, making our life more interesting and also exercising our body. After all, sitting in the office all day is very bad for health; long-term lack of exercise can easily cause illness. However, many owners are very worried about their dog's toileting problems because newly adopted dogs do not have good habits. We don’t want them to poop at home, making a mess everywhere, which is very troublesome to clean. So how do we train dogs to go out for defecation?
1. Prepare small snacks.
We can use gestures or commands to have them do certain actions. You can choose a specific word for defecation, such as "squat." If it understands our meaning, we can give it some small snacks as rewards. When buying snacks, be sure to purchase ones it loves to eat. Over time, it will understand that doing this leads to tasty treats and will do it more frequently. In addition to giving snacks, we can also verbally praise it.
2. Eat before going out.
Many dogs are accustomed to defecating after eating. Only when they are full and have food in their stomachs will they want to defecate after digestion. We can also let them drink more water and bring some newspapers or tissues. As soon as we see the behavior, immediately lay down the paper to let it defecate. Otherwise, we might have to clean up after it finishes, which is very embarrassing. Therefore, we can take it out for walks often; whenever there is free time, take it outside. Over time, it will develop the habit and defecate outside, which won’t cause much trouble for the owner.
This training process may take a long time, so we need to be patient and provide the correct guidance. This way, it will learn faster and defecate on its own once outside, helping us avoid many embarrassing situations.
