Grooming Times to Follow for Family-Raised Dogs

Pomeranian (Detailed Introduction)
Grooming is very necessary for family-raised dogs. Regular grooming can promote your dog's blood circulation and make their coat more beautiful. So what kind of schedule should family dogs follow for grooming care?
1. Bathe once every four to eight weeks
If your puppy is younger than eight weeks, consult your veterinarian before bathing, as they are prone to colds or may be sensitive to some grooming products. Before each bath, brush your dog’s fur first, because if the fur is tangled, wetting it will only make the knots tighter.
2. Brush your dog’s fur every few days
Of course, this also depends on the length of your dog’s coat. Brushing helps to untangle fur knots, balance skin oil secretion, and remove dead skin. It’s also a good opportunity to bond with your dog.
3. Trim nails once a month
For puppies eight weeks old, trim their nails little by little each time. Dog nail clippers might be too big for puppies, so you can use human nail clippers instead. If you hear a “click, click” sound when your dog walks, it means their nails are too long.
4. Clean your dog’s ears once a week
Use some cotton balls soaked in cleanser to wipe their ears. Certain long-eared breeds like Poodles and Basset Hounds especially need careful ear cleaning to ensure they are clean, odorless, and pink.
