Skye Terrier (detailed introduction)

　　The Skye Terrier's fur is quite similar to other terrier breeds—long, messy, dense, and coarse. The head has abundant ornamental hair, with the eyes, nose, and muzzle completely covered by fur. For a working dog, this is an advantage, but for a companion dog, excessively long hair not only affects vision but also interferes with eating.
　　The ideal height is 10 inches at the shoulder for males and 9.5 inches for females. A dog with a 10-inch shoulder height has a body length of about 20 inches. Regardless of sex, slightly taller or shorter heights are acceptable. However, males under 9 inches or females under 8.5 inches at the shoulder are considered faults. Proportion-wise—the ideal body proportion is about 97% of the body length with a length-to-height ratio of 2:1. Physique—the body structure is solid, powerful but not coarse. Bone mass is ample.
　　The eyes are brown, with deep brown preferred, medium-sized, close-set, and full of lively and intelligent expression.
　　The ears are neat and symmetrical, adorned with elegant ornamental hair. They may be erect or pendulous. If erect, the ears are medium-sized, positioned high on the head's outer edges, with ear tips widely separated—ear tip distance is greater than ear base distance. Pendulous ears are slightly larger, positioned lower, hanging flat on the head.
　　The rear width of the skull is moderate, tapering gradually toward the muzzle, which is solid. The stop is slight. The muzzle is dark in color with moderate fullness. The jaws are strong and absolutely healthy. The nose leather must be black. Dudley nose, flesh-colored or brown nose leather are disqualifications. The bite is either scissor or pincer.
　　The coat is double-layered. The undercoat is short, dense, soft, and downy. The outer coat is hard, straight, and flat. Coat length is 5.5 inches and does not need to be longer. The body coat hangs straight down along both sides, parted from head to tail. The head hair may be slightly shorter, with the muzzle and eyes covered by long "veils" forming eyebrows and a beard. Around the ears is long ornamental hair, hanging straight from the ear edges and tips, forming fringes and highlighting the ear shape. The terminal hair blends into the neck coat. The tail has beautiful ornamental hair.
　　Coat color must be uniform and match the skin color; depth may vary. Colors may be black, blue, shades of gray, silver, light brown, or cream. Except for black markings on ears, muzzle, and tail tip, there should be no other markings or spots. The darker the spot color the better, with black preferred. The head and leg colors are close to the body color.
　　There is no need to rigidly imitate the standard dog’s color and pattern. This breed only allows a white patch on the chest no larger than 2 inches in diameter. Puppy coat color may differ significantly from adult colors. Thus, color changes greatly during puppy development; puppies under 18 months are allowed different colors. In any case, puppies do not need to forcibly imitate the standard dog's colors and patterns, except cream dogs may have black stripes around the body. Adult dogs only allow white chest spots no larger than 2 inches in diameter.
　　In motion, the legs move straight forward. From the front, forelegs remain straight. The distance between paws is consistent with the distance between elbows. The main propulsion comes from the hind legs. The front legs should not lift too high when moving forward. Overall, the movement can be described as smooth, lively, and effortless, somewhat like a flowing painting.
