Feeding Points of Huskies
Husky (Detailed Introduction)
Huskies have sensitive stomachs, so owners need to pay extra attention to their diet. Improper feeding can easily cause diarrhea, even clean and healthy food might lead to upset stomach. So, what should be noted when feeding Huskies?
Feeding Points
Suitable Food for Husky Puppies
1. Puppy food: such as puppy-specific dry food and canned food.
2. Calcium: supplement naturally high calcium content products like Super Calcium to promote puppies' bone and teeth development.
3. Puppy milk powder: there are specially formulated puppy goat milk powders.
4. Egg yolk: egg yolks not only contain rich protein but also easily digestible vitamin A, calcium, and minerals.
5. Vitamins and minerals: for weaker puppies, consider supplementing with additional vitamins and minerals. Products like 21 Golden Vita or puppy-special Golden Vita for pets can be considered.
6. Meat: beef, pork, chicken, etc. are good foods, but when feeding puppies, choose lean portions as fat spoils easily. Always feed cooked meat, never raw! Note: puppies under 4 months should not be overfed meat.
Feeding Tools
Thick ceramic bowls are generally hard for dogs to break and are suitable as feeding bowls. When cooking meat for dogs, a long-handled covered pot can be used, but for hygiene reasons, keep dog food cooking utensils separate from your kitchen utensils. Of course, all bowls and utensils must be cleaned after each meal. Cover leftover canned food with plastic lids and store properly. Like humans, it can only be stored in the fridge for up to three days; after that, uneaten food should be discarded as it accumulates bacteria invisible to the naked eye.
Proper Nutrition
The components of dog milk differ from cow’s milk. Cow’s milk contains fat, lactose, and protein, but the amounts are much lower than those in dog milk. Small puppies cannot fully absorb cow’s milk components and it’s not well tolerated by their stomachs, which may cause diarrhea and vomiting.
When Huskies no longer need dog milk and are fully weaned, they can eat dog food designed for them. Dog food generally contains the necessary nutrients. If you want to enhance the nutrition, you can add some vegetables and fruits for a balanced diet. Onions, garlic, shrimps, and some pickled foods must never be given to dogs as these are harmful to them. Try not to feed dogs human food as their digestive systems differ greatly and eating random human food may harm their health. If you love your little pet, please make sure to arrange a healthy diet according to proper feeding guidelines.
