Common Diseases of Border Collies, These Several Are Easily Contracted
Dogs, like humans, can get sick and need treatment. If owners want to be qualified Border Collie parents, they must prepare in advance for disease prevention related to their dogs. Now, let’s learn together what common diseases Border Collies have?

⒈Rabies. This is an acute infectious disease. Whether in humans or other animals, once infected with this disease, it can be life-threatening. Its fatality rate is up to 100%. With current medical technology, it can only be prevented by rabies vaccination. Once infection occurs, those unlucky cases are incurable. Therefore, people who keep dogs at home must not only ensure the dog's safety but also protect themselves and others by regularly vaccinating their dogs.
⒉Ascariasis (Roundworm Disease). Animals are very susceptible to roundworm diseases because they cannot easily distinguish what is safe to eat and what is not. Border Collie puppies suffering from roundworm disease will have serious effects on their normal physical development.

⒊Canine Parvovirus. This is a canine infectious disease discovered only in recent years. Border Collie puppies are the main susceptible group to this disease. Some adverse symptoms of Border Collies infected with this virus include: refusal to eat, diarrhea, fever, vomiting. Severe cases may die due to excessive dehydration. The mortality rate of this virus is between 10% and 50%. Thus, vaccination against this type of disease must be done in advance.

⒋Canine Distemper. Also commonly called distemper, it mainly occurs in puppies aged 3 to 12 months. It is also an acute infectious disease. Clinical manifestations include: lethargy, loss of appetite, high fever, vomiting, bloody stools, etc. Also, the eyes are sensitive to light and always have tear stains at the corners. The duration of the distemper illness varies; even if cured, it may leave sequelae such as limb weakness. However, dogs deemed incurable usually die within a few months. The peak period of this disease is from October to April every year; cold weather is the best environment for this disease to spread. It is generally difficult to detect early, so preventive measures must be taken in advance.
