Can Chihuahuas Guard the House

Chihuahua (detailed introduction)
Can Chihuahuas guard the house? Many people might find this question amusing, thinking such a small dog couldn't possibly be effective at guarding. Indeed, judging by their size, Chihuahuas are not really suitable for guarding because they have little ability to fight back, but we should know Chihuahuas are very brave and will bark loudly to warn whenever a stranger enters.
Similar to guard dogs like Tibetan Mastiffs (detailed introduction) and Dobermans, which possess keen insight and strong resistance abilities. Tibetan Mastiffs, Dobermans, and the like have strong biting power that deters thieves from acting recklessly. For ultra-small dogs like Chihuahuas, even though they will fight desperately, they are quickly subdued. From a scientific perspective, a Chihuahua’s alert nature can be used for guarding, but their guarding method has to be different from other dogs.
Through strict scientific training, a Chihuahua’s guarding capability can be improved. However, their guarding function is limited to "timely alerting." That is, when a stranger tries to enter the home, the Chihuahua should be able to detect them promptly and bark loudly to alert the owner’s attention, allowing the owner to be prepared and avoid worse consequences. At the same time, the Chihuahua must be trained to both bark intensely while avoiding harm from intruders, protecting its own safety.
Therefore, Chihuahuas guarding the house is mainly limited to alerting us of intrusions, enabling us to be prepared. Combined with their brave nature, they will not retreat regardless of who they encounter, so they can be considered timely alarms that provide us with immediate warnings.
