In the pet world, the two biggest stars are cats and dogs, but people’s understanding of these two creatures is very different. People think dogs are loyal, but cats have not received this honor. Because many times, cats are very aloof; no matter how you call them, they won't respond, or they just glance at you and walk away without paying attention! So many people think cats are aloof little pets, but that’s actually not the case. Cats ignore you for a reason; maybe because you’re not attractive enough to the cat! Actually, what I say is just nonsense, don’t take it seriously. So do you know why cats look coldly at their owners? Could it really be aloofness?

Actually, it’s not. Could it be that cats have poor hearing and can’t distinguish their owner’s voice? Research shows you are completely wrong. Cats can not only hear, but they can hear you from a great distance because cat species have very sensitive hearing, better than most other creatures. But even if they can hear you and don’t respond, could there be another reason?

Cats are different from dogs. Dogs are loyal and will act according to their owner’s commands! But cats are different; their every action is driven purely by survival! So they won’t follow what you say. Is there anything tasty? If there’s no food, there’s no motivation! That’s why most cats are disobedient kids, probably going through rebellious youth! However, if you give rewards, cats will still obey, because their survival instinct for food can override their aloof cat soul!

So does that mean cats are deliberately doing this? Actually, you can’t say that either, because humans and cats are still very different, at least linguistically. Cats only meow, but human languages number in the thousands. Maybe from their perspective, we are just making ghostly noises. Just as we don’t understand their language, they don’t understand human languages either! So you can’t blame cats for not coming when called, because species differences still exist. Even though cats have been domesticated, they still don’t understand human language. They won’t pretend to understand something they don’t!

Therefore, if you want to train a cat to listen to you, it’s not impossible but a bit troublesome, since their intelligence isn’t as high as the husky next door! But as long as you give it food every time after a command, after a few months, you can still call it over! Because in its eyes, your command equals food!
