Warning Signs Before a Cat Attacks
When a pet cat’s mood is affected or it senses danger and stress in the surrounding environment, it is very likely to attack people. If owners cannot recognize the warning signs cats give before attacking, they will be defenselessly scratched or bitten by the cat.
Warning signs before a cat attacks
1. Eyes wide open, showing a fierce glare, watching its enemy and keeping alert to what is happening in the surrounding environment.
2. When a cat feels threatened or hurt, its pupils dilate; when it intends to counterattack or attack, the pupils become extremely constricted, staring at the attack target.
3. Just before launching an attack, the cat’s ears lay flat, the tail stands straight or lashes back and forth, and the hair on the tail stands up.
4. Before attacking, the cat shows its anger and momentum by continually hissing, sometimes even spitting to scare off its opponent and boost its own presence.
Most pet cats are gentle by nature and enjoy interacting with humans. However, cat attacks still frequently occur. Therefore, it is very necessary for caretakers to understand the common warning signals cats give before attacking, to protect themselves from scratches and bites.
