How to train Ocicat not to scratch furniture

  Since bringing a cat home, this cat loves to relieve itself anywhere, not only that, it also likes to chew on things. Whenever it sees something, it immediately runs over to tear and bite. But the main problem is still its urination and defecation, which is really disgusting. Training cats to relieve themselves by themselves is something owners must learn. The home can’t be covered with cat feces everywhere. When cats can use the toilet on their own, the home will be very clean.

  I will teach you how to train your cat to use the toilet. Given time, the cat can consciously use the toilet to relieve itself, making it much easier for the owner.

  Training cats to use the bathroom

    1. Training cats to use the toilet

    Training cats to use the toilet is very easy. Cats are naturally clean and prefer to defecate in fixed places. It is very easy to train cats to use the toilet. If your home has a squat toilet, simply remove the cat litter box and tie the cat next to the squat toilet. In two or three days, you can teach the cat to relieve itself in the squat toilet. Kittens that have just arrived home, about 3-4 months old, can almost be taught in one go by paying attention to their defecation behavior.

    2. Training cats to use the flushing toilet

    Materials needed: plastic board (or wooden board as substitute); sand, ash, sawdust, or other bedding;

    Steps: (1) Place a plastic board (or wooden board substitute) under the toilet seat ring of the flushing toilet.

    (2) Spread an appropriate amount of sand, ash, sawdust or other bedding material on the plastic or wooden board.

    (3) When you notice the cat is about to relieve itself, immediately bring it to the flushing toilet; soon, it will relieve itself there on its own.

    (4) After several patient training sessions, the cat will gradually form the habit of relieving itself on the flushing toilet with the bedding material. Then gradually reduce the bedding on the plastic or wooden board. During this process, the cat will quickly learn to stand on the toilet seat ring to defecate and urinate, rather than standing on the lower layer of bedding inside the toilet to relieve itself.

    (5) Then gradually remove all the bedding, and drill a hole in the plastic board to allow urine to drain. If you remove the bedding too early and the cat refuses to relieve itself on the toilet seat ring anymore, you will have to restart the training from scratch. In short, only after the cat has developed the habit of standing on the toilet seat ring to relieve itself can you remove the plastic or wooden board.

    Notes

    During training, several details should be noted. First, replace the soiled bedding daily and always keep the flushing toilet clean. This will speed up the training process. Second, during training, no one should use the toilet at the same time, especially when the cat is relieving itself in the flushing toilet. Do not disturb or interrupt it. Third, some cats may accidentally slip inside the flushing toilet; these cats usually will not use the toilet anymore. At this time, the owner must restart training from the beginning until the cat learns to relieve itself on the flushing toilet.
