Although we often see them fighting when they are together in daily life, and we frequently witness their play-fighting games, with gradual nurturing, cats and dogs can actually accept each other, get along happily, and even help each other, doing some things that touch our hearts.

　　According to Taiwanese media, a 3-week-old Shih Tzu in the UK abandoned by its mother finally found a new mommy—but it is not a dog, rather a Siamese cat. The Shih Tzu Hope was born the same day as the cat mommy Coco gave birth to three kittens. Coco's owner was worried that Hope, abandoned by its mother Diamond, would lack care and survival chances, so they suggested to Diamond’s owner that Coco nurse Hope. Unexpectedly, the cat and dog hit it off at first sight; Coco was not only willing to nurse but also treated Hope as her own and took meticulous care of it.

　　In Ukraine, there is an even more astonishing incident. During the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, a residential house in Ukraine caught fire after being bombed. Seeing the house on fire, the owner hurriedly released the family dog’s leash to let it escape. Unexpectedly, the dog ran back into the fire and came out carrying a kitten in its mouth. This act stunned everyone present. A reporter uploaded the scene photos online, and netizens commented that the bond between cats and dogs is stronger than gold; they are truly in love. The dog’s loyalty and compassion touched many. Animals do have feelings; when the fire came, the dog did not choose to escape but risked its life to rescue another weak animal. 　　There are many similar examples. For instance, a Chihuahua in Russia carries a lame cat on its back every day to go out searching for food. This shows cats and dogs can become good friends, even life-long companions. So, in our daily life, when we see cats and dogs fight fiercely upon meeting, how should we cultivate their relationship?

　　1. The best stage for cats and dogs to get along is during their youth when their minds are still simple and they adapt more easily to each other. Intimate feelings are easier to foster and tend to last as they grow up.

　　2. Adult dogs (those with gentle temperaments) and young cats also get along relatively easily. Dogs’ generally carefree nature tends to accept different species, and young cats' innocent personality rarely rejects dogs. Their friendship slowly builds through daily interactions.

　　When you bring a new pet home for the first time, keep it confined to one room alone for a few days. This way, other pets only learn about the newcomer through the door crack, reducing hostility. This method allows pets to get to know each other first through smell, sound, and the unique senses cats and dogs have. By the time you introduce them face-to-face, they are already familiar.
