How to Correct Cats' Habit of Disturbing People Late at Night

American Curl Cat
1. Prepare a warm and comfortable bed for the cat away from the bedroom.
2. Keep the bedroom door closed while sleeping to prevent the cat from running in and out.
3. Keep the cat awake during the day or increase its daytime activity. You can play games with the cat, place a cat tree by the window so the cat can jump up and watch outside. Rotate toys every few days to maintain its interest and prevent boredom.
4. Play with the cat before bedtime.
5. Do not feed the cat early in the morning, as it calls you to eat at that time. Feed small amounts multiple times a day. If no one is home during the day, consider a timed automatic feeder or hide food in anti-depression toys. You can also hide small snacks around the room and feed the cat a main meal before bedtime (the largest meal of the day).
6. When the cat is about to start playing at night, make a sudden noise to startle it. Repeating this can correct the behavior, but make sure the cat does not discover that you are the source of the noise.
7. Completely ignore its nighttime behavior and demands to wake you up. You must persist if you start ignoring it; giving up halfway will teach the cat that persistence pays off. (Source:PetsZone)
