Six Points of Knowledge on the Timing of Training Cats
Chinchilla Cat
(1), Training Age. Training should start at 2 to 3 months old when cats are easier to accept training and lay the foundation for future improvement.
(2), Master the timing of training. The best time to train cats is before feeding because hungry cats are more willing to be close to people, more obedient, and food is enticing for them, making training easier.
(3), Organic combination of various stimuli. Various stimuli and methods should be combined organically. The attitude should neither be too harsh nor too lenient; a balance of firmness and gentleness is needed. However, when training a specific action, do not use too many methods to avoid confusing the cat.
(4), Attitude must be gentle and patient. Cats have stubborn personalities and strong pride, unwilling to be controlled. Therefore, the attitude should be friendly, like playing with the cat. Even if they make mistakes, do not scold or punish excessively; otherwise, the cat will develop an aversion to training, affecting the entire process.
(5), Progress step by step; do not rush. Teach only one action at a time and avoid conducting several trainings simultaneously. Cats find it hard to learn many actions at once, and repeated failure will cause loss of confidence and annoyance, complicating future training. Each training session should not exceed 10 minutes, but multiple sessions can be done daily.
(6), The training environment should be quiet. Avoid training by several people simultaneously to prevent distracting the cat. Training actions should not be too sudden or produce loud noises, as cats are very sensitive to loud sounds or sudden movements, which may scare them away or make them hide, unwilling to continue training.
