Precautions for Cat Neutering Surgery
Before surgery:
1. One day before surgery, thoroughly disinfect the home, especially hidden sanitary corners like under the bed, under the sofa, and the top of the wardrobe. Some cats may hide in these places after surgery due to pain and fear of light and people. Large amounts of dust and bacteria may cause infection. It is best to use pet disinfectant; 84 disinfectant seriously irritates cats' respiratory systems. Recommended is Baijie sterilizing disinfectant. Also, do not disinfect the cat toilet because the smell of disinfectant will make it hard for the cat to find its toilet.
2. Trim nails. Most cats start scratching the gauze on their wound on the second or third day after surgery. Trimming their nails in advance makes the gauze less likely to fall off.
3. If possible, owners should buy some pet nutritional paste in advance, as most cats will not eat for several days after surgery, which is the time their body most needs nutritional supplements. Timely energy supplementation greatly helps the cat’s recovery. Recommended is Weike Nutritional Paste (90 yuan for 120.5 grams).
4. Pay attention during the trip to the hospital: keep warm in winter by adding a hot water bag wrapped in a towel; prevent heatstroke in summer by covering the cat’s cage with a wet towel.
5. Fast for eight hours before surgery and fast from water for four hours.
