    Children always hope to have a pet. Cats and dogs are very suitable companions for children because they live long, are smart and cute, and have deep feelings for people.

　　If you choose to raise a cat because your child wants a pet, please remember that cats are emotional animals. Treat them as a family member rather than a toy. Do not abandon or scold them. Teach your child not only to like the cat but also to love it. (Cats generally do not actively attack children; if a cat harms a child, it is usually because the child threatened it.) By teaching children this way, they can build a friendship with cats, live amicably, and play happily together.

　　Children all like cats. Cats walk, meow, play, and are furry and soft, certainly more fun than a teddy bear.

　　Cats are gentle and good companions for children. Cats can help children develop kindness: cats not only receive love and care, they also love children. Cats do not require much from a child—just a gentle hug, brushing their fur, and kindly talking to them.

　　However, cats and children often do not get along well, especially curious toddlers who want to touch and play with everything interesting, which can cause many problems. The fundamental reason is children do not know how to be gentle when first handling cats. Many children and cats have strained relationships at first because kids pull the cat’s fur, tug its tail, or forcibly grab the cat when it does not want to be held.

　　Cats and kittens generally do not have the patience that dogs or other pets do. They cannot tolerate rough treatment, teasing, pinching, poking, or prodding. If a child treats a cat roughly once, the cat will be afraid of them for a long time. Cats have excellent memories; if someone has hurt or scared them, they will hold a grudge for a long time. But if you prepare in advance, these problems will not arise.
