Introduction to Various Cat Actions and Expressions
Many people think cats always have the same expression and don’t know if they are happy or angry. Below, the editor introduces some cat actions and the moods they express, so that as an owner, you no longer have to worry about not understanding “Master Meow's” temper.
1. Tail expressing mood: If the cat wags its tail vigorously, it means it is very happy. If it wags its tail rapidly, it means it is very nervous.
2. Invitation to play: If the cat lies on its side rolling around, it is inviting the owner to play. For kittens, anything like the owner’s feet or the mother cat’s tail is a toy. Sometimes even immovable small stones or their own tails are treated as toys. But what they like most are long blades of grass, yarn, or other fun things to bat around.
3. Relaxed and happy movement: When a cat slowly stretches out its body, it means it is very relaxed and happy.
4. Circling and rubbing against the owner: When a cat rubs its face or body against the owner’s leg, it is asking for food. This originally was a kitten’s action to beg for food from the mother cat. Rubbing against the owner’s leg is actually marking the owner with its scent, meaning “this belongs to me.” In fact, this is a marking behavior.
5. Tense and looking upward means ready for a fight: When a cat’s ears are back, lying on its back and extending its claws, it is already prepared for a fight to the end. Using claws and teeth means it is in attack mode. Even the owner should be extra careful when the cat adopts this stance. There are many cases of owners being bitten when trying to touch the cat’s belly.
6. Using stillness to restrain the opponent: If a cat encounters a familiar cat within its territory, it will quietly wait until the other leaves first. They generally avoid approaching or even looking at the other cat as much as possible.
