How to Train Cats to Go for a Walk with Their Owner
Tabby Cat
On busy streets and small paths, you often see owners walking various dogs. But have you ever seen someone walking a cat? Of course, walking cats outside is very rare, so how do you train a cat to go for a walk together?
Training a cat to walk with its owner must start from kittenhood. First, make the cat accustomed to wearing a collar and leash, but remember the cat’s collar should not be too tight or too heavy, because cats initially reject collars on their necks. Therefore, the initial wearing time of the collar should not be too long to avoid resistance from the cat.
After about 3 days, the cat will get used to the collar around its neck. Then the owner can start indoor walking training with the cat, keeping each session around 15 minutes.
Then gradually train the cat to walk at the doorstep. The owner can moderately take the cat to places slightly farther away from home to let it gradually adjust to the walking atmosphere. Once the cat gradually adapts, it can be taken for free walks. If the cat is unwilling, don’t force it; try several times, progressing step by step, and one day it will succeed. (Source:PetsZone)
