How to Make Your Pet Cat Fall in Love with Your Embrace
Abyssinian Cat
First, you must remember one truth: are born hedonists. If they do not like your embrace, it is because they have not felt the comfort and warmth your hug brings them.
Rule one: Conduct this when it is cold; never do it during the scorching summer. The colder, the better. Some eager cat lovers suggest turning the air conditioning down below zero. The reason is simple: who likes to stick together in the heat of summer?
Rule two: Hold the cat when it is sleeping; never do so when it is energetic and jumping around. The reason is also simple—you wouldn’t like to be tied in someone’s arms when you’re jumping about, right?
Rule three: For some more enlightened cats, if you place them on your legs or embrace them a few times when it is cold and they are sleepy, they will quickly realize that a person’s legs and arms are the best cat beds. If your cat is this type, congratulations!
Rule four: For cats with acrophobia, it’s best to sit on the ground or bed. Don’t let the cat feel the fear brought by height. After successfully gaining control during training, gradually increase the height so that the cat unconsciously eliminates insecurity caused by the height.
Rule five: For cats with less awareness, don’t put them directly on your legs. Instead, sit beside them when they are sleepy, and pamper them with massages and stroking. Some cats will rest their heads on your legs in a drowsy state or further place two paws on your legs. If they don’t take such intimate actions, no worries—you can gently move them up onto your thigh. If done appropriately, they won’t resist. If the cat senses your ulterior motives, please stop and wait for the right moment before gently moving it again. Eventually, you will move it onto your entire thigh, and if the situation is good, the cat will even climb onto your thigh voluntarily and choose the best spot.
Rule six: Once you have successfully let the cat sleep on your thigh, it’s best to let it sleep there for more than half an hour. If you need to go to the bathroom during this time, please try to hold it in.
Rule seven: Generally, once cats have enjoyed sleeping on your lap once, they will remember the benefits and choose it over their cat bed next time. If the cat chooses other places, repeat the above process. When the cat starts choosing your lap to sleep, please encourage it by letting it sleep for a sufficient time.
Rule eight: If you are not satisfied with just the lap and want to move it to between your two hands, after the cat’s sleeping on the lap is consolidated, gently place it between your hands while it is sleeping on your lap. At first, keep the range small and gradually increase the range and height over time.
