What to Do If Your Puppy Is Too Sensitive to Things
Don't always keep the dog at home

Puppies find many things in the outside world unfamiliar, so it’s understandable that they feel nervous. However, we see different dogs respond differently to the same things, which is due to differences in their personalities. Some dogs are timid and lack confidence and a sense of security, making many puppies overly sensitive for these reasons. To improve these issues, appropriate measures need to be taken.

1. Reasons Why Dogs Are Too Sensitive

1. Feeling Unfamiliar with Things

This is the most common reason. Dogs are highly alert animals. Before they confirm whether something is safe, they generally won’t approach easily and will behave cautiously.

2. Too Lonely

These dogs usually have owners who are busy with work and rarely interact with them, so they seldom encounter outside things and receive little training. This leads to sensitivity towards strangers or other things.

3. Dog’s Personality Issues

Some dogs are naturally a bit sensitive and neurotic, such as Chihuahuas. For this situation, it can only be gradually corrected and improved.

4. Previously Hurt

Some puppies may have been cruelly treated by their previous owners, leaving psychological shadows. These dogs usually have depression and a strong distrust of people, which requires time and the correct methods to alleviate.

2. Related Handling

1. Increase the Dog's Confidence

First, let the dog develop a certain trust in you. Try to spend some time with the dog regularly. Play more games with the dog and pet it. Give the dog plenty of encouragement.

2. Take It for Walks Every Day

It is not a wise idea to keep the dog at home all day. If the dog’s vaccinations are completed, you can take the dog out to explore and encounter fresh things. Many dogs become sensitive because these things are unfamiliar. Once the dog becomes familiar with these things, it will no longer be too nervous.

3. Let It Play and Interact More With Other Dogs

Allowing your dog to have frequent contact with other dogs helps greatly with socialization training. Dogs can learn how to get along with other dogs and learn things during playtime that we cannot teach them.
