What things can Beagles not eat?
What things can Beagles not eat? Everyone knows Snoopy, right? Don’t you particularly like that cute and clumsy dog? Do you know what breed Snoopy is based on? That’s right, it’s a Beagle! So how should you feed a Beagle?
The dietary management of Beagles is very important. Owners who love their dogs often feed them what they like to eat, but that is not necessarily good. Some foods are forbidden for Beagles. If eaten, it may cause mild symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting, or in severe cases, it could even cost the dog’s life.
Now let's introduce what Beagles absolutely cannot eat. First, onions and scallions that humans often consume are toxic to dogs and may sometimes cause poisoning. Even when cooked, the harmful substances do not break down, so foods like hamburgers, curry, and sauces containing onions or scallions must never be given to dogs. Bread should not be given to Beagles either; staple bread contains too much salt. While it suits human tastes, it means excessive salt intake for dogs. Ice cream and cakes are unnecessary sweet treats for dogs. These foods may cause obesity or diarrhea.
Some people think dogs naturally like to eat bones, but dogs may swallow them without chewing properly, which can cause vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation. Bones might also get stuck in the throat. If you want to let your dog chew on bones, small amounts of pork or beef bones are generally safe. Actually, giving bones does not necessarily make a dog’s bones stronger.
Then, spicy seasonings that are irritating and strongly scented foods are bad for dogs. Vegetables high in fiber, peanuts, octopus, cuttlefish, and shellfish are hard to digest and may cause abdominal pain or diarrhea. Chinese chives should not be fed either, as this vegetable may block the throat or stick to the windpipe, causing choking.
There are many other foods Beagles cannot eat, such as grapes, which may cause kidney failure and lead to the dog’s death. Even a single raisin is forbidden. Do not feed Beagles leftover human food because many of those foods are not suitable for Beagles.
