Walking the Dog Is Also a Technical Skill

Schnauzer (Detailed Introduction)
Don’t think that just taking your dog for a walk around the block is enough to call it dog walking; there is actually a lot of knowledge behind it. Proper dog walking not only makes the dog healthier physically and mentally, but also avoids causing inconvenience to others. Therefore, owners must not underestimate this matter. To walk your dog well, you need to pay attention to the following three points.
1. Essential Items Are a Must
If you are walking your dog, you must bring a leash. Many owners confidently believe they can control their dogs and thus never bring a leash when going out, but problems often start from not bringing a leash. Some dogs may scare pedestrians, some dogs become completely uncontrollable and eventually get lost once outside, and some dogs may be accidentally hit by vehicles while crossing the road. If you want to avoid these situations, bring a leash. Secondly, you should carry newspapers and plastic bags to clean up your dog’s waste. Some people say dog waste is a good fertilizer that nourishes the grass and doesn’t need to be picked up. But if you are the one walking in the grass and step on waste every few steps, how would you feel? Additionally, if you raise a large dog, you may also need to prepare a bottle of water because they consume more and need timely hydration.
2. Manage the Timing Properly
Generally, small dogs can be walked once a day, but large dogs must be walked twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening. Once the routine is formed, do not change it arbitrarily. If the dog has just eaten, let it rest for half an hour before taking it out. The exercise time for small dogs should be controlled within 20 minutes, while medium and large dogs need at least 40 minutes of outdoor exercise.
3. Choose Suitable Locations
Residential areas, gardens, and squares are the preferred places for dog walking. These places are relatively safe for dogs, have large space, and are familiar areas, making them very suitable for their activities. Some people prefer to let their dogs run on the road; in this case, the owner must control the leash well to prevent accidents. Also, when in public places, the owner should always watch to ensure the dog does not hurt other people or animals. If any signs of trouble appear, immediately recall the dog.
