Uneven Nutrition Causes Dogs to Have Skin Diseases

Bulldog
We know that dog skin diseases are generally caused by many external factors, such as external parasites, bathing too frequently, or infection from other pets, but we should also pay attention to some internal factors. For example, uneven nutrition can also make dogs prone to skin diseases. It is a known fact that dogs like to eat meat and chew bones, so owners often feed their dogs a very single diet. Some might think that dog food containing meat is the best dog food!
Actually, this is not the case. Long-term feeding of meat without other "side dishes" can cause dogs to lack various vitamins and other nutrients. For example, lack of fatty acids may lead to dog skin diseases. Fatty acids are the main components of cell membranes and have the function of synthesizing prostaglandins and preventing epithelial moisture loss. When essential fatty acids are deficient, dogs not only experience reduced reproductive rates but also suffer from skin abrasions that are difficult to heal, increased dandruff, formation of pyoderma, hair loss, edema, and moist dermatitis in the external ear canal and between the toes. When unsaturated fatty acids are deficient, it easily causes xanthomatosis, with nodular and painful skin formations.
Generally speaking, feeding branded dog food basically ensures comprehensive nutrition for dogs. If you want to give your dog some extra benefits, then occasionally feed it some meaty bones.
