Understand Their Characteristics Before Raising Dogs and Cats
Pet Dogs

Nowadays many people raise dogs and cats on a whim rather than with true love and understanding. This causes many to lack responsibility and proper knowledge on how to feed them, which leads to many adorable pets leaving this world prematurely.

For this reason, we spread positive energy daily to change the fate of some dogs and cats, and we have been working hard continuously.

First, understand the normal lifespan of dogs and cats: The normal lifespan of dogs generally is 13-15 years. Nowadays, due to more attention and scientific feeding, lifespans have gradually extended, with large dogs living around 13-15 years and small dogs 15-18 years.

Cats generally live 15-20 years. So, cats aged 11 or 12 are not yet at the end of their lives. If they get sick, please seek timely treatment and take good care of them. Believe that they will accompany you for many more years.

Second, for newly raised puppies and kittens, care must be very attentive. Owners need to be especially careful. Changing environment causes great stress for dogs and cats, especially young ones, which often leads to digestive discomfort manifested as vomiting, diarrhea, and poor mental state showing as excessive sleeping, low activity, increased eye discharge, reduced appetite, and weight loss. Mild cases are temporary, but severe cases can develop into severe infectious diseases. Therefore, when raising newborn puppies and kittens, pay close attention to environmental and dietary changes to ensure their healthy growth. Also, it is recommended that new pet parents take their pets to the hospital for health checks and consult veterinarians on how to properly raise and care for them.

Third, for senior dogs and cats, we should give more consideration and care. Generally, dogs and cats gradually enter old age between 6-8 years. Senior pets show decreased activity, joint stiffness, poor exercise tolerance, reduced heart and lung function, hearing loss, decreased skin elasticity, gradual tooth loss, increased irritability, and weakened immunity. For senior pets, this is the most difficult phase of life, so we must provide special care and services. The first step is a health check, as many hidden diseases exist in senior pets, such as internal diseases: diabetes, fatty liver, enlarged prostate, chronic kidney failure, etc. Many diseases are not noticed without careful observation by the owner, and by the time they are found, the condition is often at a middle or late stage, causing physical suffering to the pet and psychological guilt to the owner. Once dogs and cats enter old age, annual health examinations, especially internal medicine checks focusing on liver, kidneys, ovaries, uterus, mammary glands, heart and lungs, lumbar spine, testicles, prostate, skin, and bladder, are essential for early disease detection and timely intervention.

Fourth, scientifically understand the relationship between pets and humans. Animals and humans coexist harmoniously. When humans hear about zoonotic diseases, many abandon their pets; when they understand that prevention is possible, they take precautions; and when fully understanding zoonotic diseases, we achieve coexistence. Zoonotic diseases scare many who like pets but dare not approach them. Actually, we should correctly and scientifically understand the entire zoonotic disease process to avoid psychological fear and resistance. For example, toxoplasmosis: dogs are intermediate hosts, cats are the definitive hosts, and only cats can transmit it to humans. Humans must directly contact cat feces to get infected. However, a cat sheds infectious feces only once in its lifetime, so proper protection easily resolves the problem. Transmission does not occur through other means. Therefore, a new, scientific, and comprehensive understanding of zoonotic diseases is needed to prevent hesitation in loving dogs and cats.

Fifth, love it, and care for it for a lifetime. Because of love, bonds are maintained; because of love, better methods of care are found; because of love, more attentive care is given; because of love, they accompany us longer.

Every pet lover, sincerely for our beloved pets, spread positive energy every day, spend a little more time with them daily, and learn more about their world every day. Love it, and care for it for a lifetime—not just words, but deeds. Looking forward to: Love spreads from here.
