Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

  The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel appeared in European courts in the 17th century and was greatly loved by the royal family. Thus named, it inherently exudes a noble temperament. Of course, it has now become a popular companion dog. Today, I will introduce to you our formerlittle dog prince.
　　1. Physical Characteristics
　　The head is proportionate in size and well balanced. One important feature is the sweet, elegant, and gentle expression. The eyes are large and round but not protruding, with appropriate spacing; the color is soft, very deep brown, giving a clear and bright appearance. The eye rims are black. Ears are set high, with abundant feathering, broad, long, and hanging. When alert, the ears slightly flap towards the face. The skull is slightly rounded. The entire muzzle is gently tapered. The nose leather is pure black with well-developed nostrils. The lips are developed but not drooping, ending neatly. The neck length is appropriate, with no loose skin, muscular and forming a slight arch. It connects delicately with the shoulders, giving an elegant appearance. The topline remains level both in motion and standing. The body is short in the torso, ribs tightly merged, firm and strong but not barrel-chested. The chest depth is moderate, level with the elbows. The tail is set forward; most of the time it is not curled over the back, and when moving, a non-moving tail is typical of this breed. The gait is elegant and stretched, with strong rear drive.
　　The coat is medium length, silky, and wavy, with slight waves also accepted. Long feathering is present on the ears, chest, legs, and tail, with feathering on the feet unique to this breed. Colors include bicolor (deep rich chestnut with pearl white patches; ears must be chestnut, evenly distributed on the head and around the eyes.
