【Test】Small Test to Assess Dog's Learning and Observation Ability
Labrador Retriever (detailed introduction)
Dogs also have observation and learning abilities. In fact, we can use some small tests to evaluate whether your dog’s learning ability is excellent. This can help provide reference data for training your dog in the future. Of course, these small tests also require comprehensive assessment by the owner, and every dog has their unique characteristics, so not all dogs’ test results are accurate.
1. Testing Method
First, choose a time when you usually don’t take your dog for a walk. Make sure your dog is nearby and awake at that time.
2. Test Results
When the dog is looking at you, calmly pick up your coat, keys, and the dog’s collar—items you usually take when going out with your dog—and then stop without moving. If the dog excitedly runs to the door or runs toward you, give 5 points.
If the dog does not react like this, walk directly to the door and stop. If the dog then runs toward you showing the desire to go for a walk or go out, give 4 points.
If the dog still does not react, place your hand on the door handle and move it back and forth to make noise. If the dog runs toward you at this time, give 3 points.
If the dog notices the actions but does not run toward you or the door, give 2 points.
If the dog does not notice any of the actions at all, give 1 point.
