【Test】Determination Test of Dog's Personality
Samoyed
Every dog is born with a different personality; some are naturally lively and active, while others are calm and steady. When selecting a dog, mastering some simple methods to determine the dog's personality can be very helpful.
1. Qualitative Assessment of Dog Personality
1. Tolerance Test: Hug the dog repeatedly dozens of times and observe the dog's reaction to the hugs. A dog that enjoys it will want to continue being hugged. If the dog gets angry or avoids you, be cautious; this dog has a poor temper.
2. Friendliness Test: Extend your hand to the dog; if the dog immediately raises its head or comes over to sniff and lick your hand, this dog is very friendly to people.
3. Separation Anxiety Test: Leave the dog alone at home for a few minutes and observe its reaction. If it pants heavily, then the dog has separation anxiety, and you will likely need to be with it constantly.
2. Quantitative Assessment of Dog Personality
1. Tactile Test: Use your thumb and forefinger to pinch the webbing between the puppy's front toes, counting from one to ten aloud, while gradually applying more pressure. If the puppy struggles violently from the beginning, it will be overly sensitive to collars, restraints, and training; if it only struggles at the strongest pressure, the dog requires a firm trainer.
2. Auditory Test: Produce a loud sound using a noise-making device and then hide it. Puppies often get scared and confused; if it shows no reaction, take it to the vet to check for deafness. If the puppy quickly recovers and investigates the sound source, it is a sensitive and excellent dog. A dog that remains fearful and stays away from the sound source may not suit noisy households.
3. Visual Test: Wave some strips of cloth in front of the puppy. A confident puppy will calmly examine what it is; a brave one will try to bite it; a timid puppy will hide immediately.
