Preparations Before Raising a Chihuahua
Chihuahua
Chihuahuas are small in size and relatively easy to raise, but as an owner, you must never start raising one without any preparation. Before raising a Chihuahua, relevant preparations must be done in advance. In addition, you should first learn and understand the methods and skills of raising Chihuahuas. Being well prepared means you won’t be at a loss when you officially start raising your Chihuahua.
1. Living Environment
Chihuahuas are not very picky about their environment, and they don’t occupy a large living space (which is determined by their size). Before the Chihuahua comes home, you should first set up a warm and comfortable doghouse and buy a warm sleeping pad (especially in the cold winter, a sleeping pad is a must). Of course, if you are crafty enough, you can also make the doghouse and sleeping pad yourself (neither costs much).
2. Daily Supplies
Besides the sleeping area, you should also prepare dedicated feeding and drinking bowls for your Chihuahua. Although pet dogs have always been humans’ closest friends, it’s still best to prepare separate utensils for their diet. Dogs’ food and eating habits differ from ours. Buying a professional dog food bowl makes it more convenient for your dog to eat and healthier as well.
3. Obtain Family Consent
This is mainly for those living with family members. Before raising a Chihuahua, you should first seek your family’s consent and only raise it after permission is granted. If someone in the household disagrees or doesn’t like dogs, then don’t stubbornly bring a dog home just based on your own interest. It would be unfortunate if the Chihuahua causes family conflicts.
Of course, if you live alone, you don’t need to worry about these issues. But you should still carefully consider whether you have enough time to care for and accompany the dog, and whether you have sufficient independent financial ability to raise it. If the answer is yes, then you can raise a Chihuahua; if no, then even if you like dogs very much, don’t raise one lightly, because once you start raising it, you must take responsibility for the dog’s whole life. Irresponsible behavior such as abandoning the dog halfway is absolutely unacceptable.
