Personality Traits of the Dutch Smoushond

Dutch Lion Dog
The Dutch Smoushond looks very similar to the Pomeranian (detailed introduction). Although the Dutch Smoushond is slightly larger and stockier than the Pomeranian, it does not appear coarse. The Dutch Smoushond is neither timid nor aggressive. Instead, it is very outgoing and very friendly to people and other dogs. The Dutch Smoushond is a lively, intelligent, alert, and affectionate companion dog.
The Dutch Smoushond has a cheerful temperament, is easy to get close to people, has a good memory, and is observant, making it an excellent guard dog. Although it is somewhat larger in size, it does not take up much space. Its ancestors rode on Dutch ships and were accustomed to curling their bodies into a round shape to avoid occupying more limited space. The Dutch Smoushond is very loyal to its owner, bringing much joy to its caregivers.
The Dutch Smoushond has never been used as a hunting dog. With its charming character, it has earned a very high place in the affections of a nation.
