Morphological Characteristics of the Rottweiler

Rottweiler (Detailed Introduction)
The Rottweiler has a sturdy physique, fierce presence, and swift movements. The ideal height for an adult male is 63-69cm, weighing 45-55kg; the ideal height for an adult female is 58-63cm, weighing 40-50kg. The body length is slightly longer than the height, with the most ideal height-to-length ratio being 9:10.
Appearance Characteristics
Head: Medium length, broad skull, short and thick muzzle, fairly prominent forehead, very broad temples, some dogs have wrinkles on the head. The head length is moderate, wide between the ears; forehead contour is moderately arched; cheekbones are rounded with a distinct stop, very strong upper and lower jaws. The forehead is dry but shows some wrinkles when alert. The expression is noble, alert, and confident.
Ears: Medium-sized ears with high roots, lying flat. Drooping, triangular; when the dog is alert and listening, the ears are in the same plane as the top of the head, making the head appear wider. The ears are set wide apart, drooping with the inner edges close to the head, the tips reaching about the middle of the cheeks.
Eyes: Almond-shaped eyes, medium size, copper color.
Nose: Well-developed nose, must be black.
Body: Square build, firm and strong, broad chest, straight back, sloping loins.
Coat: Coat is short, straight with coarse upper hair and fine undercoat. The coat color is black with specific areas of tan or reddish-brown spots, which do not exceed one-tenth of the whole body. The undercoat can be black, gray, or light brown but should not be visible from the outside as undesirable. Curly coats are considered disqualifying.
Limbs: Forelegs are straight and muscular, hind legs bent at a sharp angle.
Feet: Feet are sturdy, front feet round, hind feet slightly elongated, toe pads hard, claws short and black, toes are arched, and black pencil-like markings on the front of the toes are preferred. Dewclaws on the hind legs must be removed.
Tail: Tail root is high and horizontal, usually docked at the first joint.
Height: Male: 63-69 cm, Female: 58-63 cm.
Gait: Fast pace; movement must be balanced, coordinated, confident, and powerful. Front limbs have good extension, hind limbs are strong; neither front nor hind limbs turn inward or outward. Hind limbs move in line with front limbs, and as the speed increases, limb placement tends toward the body's center line.
