Morphological Characteristics of the Chinese Crested Dog

Chinese Crested Dog (Detailed Introduction)
The Chinese Crested Dog belongs to the toy breed category. The ideal adult height should be between 23-33 cm, and the ideal adult weight should be between 2-5.5 kg. The body length is slightly longer than the shoulder height, with fine bones and a slim figure. It is delicate but not fragile, and the following conditions should not appear: strong or bulky.
Because the dog has a crest of hair on the top of its head, resembling the hat of Qing Dynasty officials, it is named the Chinese Crested Dog. This breed is rarer than the famous Mexican Hairless Dog because the latter is heavier and almost completely hairless. The Chinese Crested Dog is small in size and has a tuft of long hair on the top of its head, making it especially petite and unique as a companion dog.
Morphological Characteristics
Head: Expression is alert and enthusiastic. Skull: The skull is slightly arched from between the ears to the back of the head. The distance from the back of the head to the stop is equal to the distance from the stop to the nasal tip. Viewed from above or the side, the head is wedge-shaped. The stop is slight but very clear. Muzzle: The cheeks taper gradually, giving the muzzle a clear wedge shape. Nose leather: Dark dogs have dark nose leather; light-colored dogs have light nose leather, but the color must be consistent. Lips: The lips are clean and neat.
Ears: The ears are large and erect, uncropped, positioned so that the ear base aligns with the outer corner of the eyes.
Eyes: The almond-shaped eyes are widely spaced. Dark dogs have dark eye color, light dogs have lighter eye color. The eye ring color corresponds to the dog's color.
Nose: Dark-colored dogs have dark nose leather; light-colored dogs have light nose leather, but the color must be consistent.
Paws: The feet are rabbit-shaped, narrow with long toes. The nails are trimmed to medium length.
Tail: The tail is slender, tapering more towards the tip. The tail length allows it to reach the hock. When the dog moves, the tail moves cheerfully or curls over the back.
Neck, Backline, Body: The neck is sloped and clean, supporting the head from the shoulders, slightly arched. The backline slopes slightly toward the rump. Body: The depth of the chest is level with the elbows. The breastbone is not prominent. Ribs are well developed. From shoulder to waist, chest depth gradually decreases. The waist is slender.
Coat: The hairless variety has hair only on a few parts of the body: the head (called the crest), the tail (called the tail plume), and the front and rear ankles (called short socks). Regardless of length, all hair is soft as silk. The position of hair is less important than the overall appearance, and areas with hair usually taper gradually. There is no hair anywhere else on the body; the skin is soft and smooth. The crest hair starts at the stop and becomes sparser from the skull to the back of the head, gradually diminishing from the skull to the back of the neck. Hair is allowed on the face and ears of the hairless variety, but for tidiness, both varieties may have this hair trimmed.
Color: Any color or combination of colors.
Gait: Lively, agile, flowing without awkwardness or dullness.
