How to Overcome a Dog's Fear Psychology
Husky (Detailed Introduction)

Dogs, like humans, have various psychological states. Dogs are usually active, playful, and full of energy in our eyes, but they also have things they fear or are scared of. Experts have discovered that dogs have fear psychology towards sounds, fire, light, and death. These fears are innate but not unchangeable. So, how can we overcome a dog’s fear psychology and help improve their fear of these things?

When dogs hear a sudden loud noise, they are initially shocked by the abrupt sound, then escape to a place they consider safe, such as under a table or curled up in a corner, appearing very frightened. Only when the sound stops do they calm down. This fear of sound is an innate instinct, a residual psychological trait from their wild state, but this instinct can be altered by humans.

To overcome this fear psychology in dogs, audio stimulation training should begin from puppyhood to help them adapt to such stimuli. Besides sounds, many dogs are also afraid of light, which comes from natural phenomena like thunder and lightning. Dogs link these two and cannot distinguish the cause-effect relationship. In addition, similar to light, most dogs dislike fire but not to the extent of fear. In Germany, there is a four-year-old female dog that uses her paw to stomp on smoldering cigarette butts until they stop smoking. Even stronger than these instinctive fears is the fear of death, a phenomenon of life. In daily life, we often see external表现 of fear psychology in dogs, such as fear of cars or moving toys. However, as long as environmental training is done from a young age and the dog encounters more things during its social period, these fears can be reduced or even eliminated.

Therefore, training from a young age and letting them experience various environments is very beneficial to overcoming these fears. Many times, fear of something is due to a lack of understanding, but once accustomed and knowing these things do not harm them, the fear naturally decreases.
