Knowledge about Dalmatian Weaning Period
Dalmatian
Parents like to raise puppies from an early age, just like raising a child. There are many growth stages in a dog's development, so how does the weaning period go? How long do dogs wean, and what issues need attention during this time are similar to weaning in children. After birth, Dalmatians get the energy and nutrients needed for growth through nursing. However, they cannot nurse forever; they must wean at a certain age and adapt to other feeding methods.
Generally speaking, weaning can be done when nursing has lasted 45-60 days. Of course, the exact weaning time should be decided based on the puppy’s condition. There are several methods to wean Dalmatians: the first is one-time weaning, simply put, when it is time to wean, just wean. Once decided to wean the puppy, stop nursing and replace with other foods. The second method is progressive weaning, gradually reducing the dog's nursing amount while increasing other foods. Over 7-10 days, the weaning of the Dalmatian is gradually completed.
Most parents usually choose to gradually wean their dogs as this allows the puppy enough time to adapt and avoids digestive discomfort caused by too rapid weaning.
It is important to prepare replacement food before weaning the Dalmatian. Professional puppy kibble combined with puppy milk powder can be chosen. Of course, the kibble should be soaked in warm water until soft and then mixed evenly with the milk powder before feeding the puppy. Also, after nursing, the number of daily feedings should be kept consistent with the nursing period initially; as the puppy grows, the number of feedings per day can be gradually reduced.
PS: During the weaning period, be careful not to randomly change the dog food or puppy milk powder. When purchasing these dog foods, be sure to check the nutrition label and choose dog foods with balanced, comprehensive nutrients such as calcium, vitamins, and protein to feed the Dalmatian puppies.
