Do not allow the actions between dogs to be too intense

Playing between dogs is also a form of socialization training for them. When dogs play with each other, it’s usually some light roughhousing, but once it crosses a certain boundary, we should stop such behavior early, otherwise the dog may develop a wrong perception. Similarly, this kind of behavior can also affect the dog playing with it, causing that dog to be more likely to show unfriendly behavior toward other people or dogs in the future in order to protect itself.

Therefore, when two dogs play with each other, the owner should pay close attention to whether the dogs' behavior is too intense. If one dog is being forced to retreat step by step or pinned to the ground and "beaten" by the other, the owner must immediately stop such behavior and call the dog back to their side.

If one dog develops aversion or even fear due to the other dog’s overly intense behavior, this is not beneficial for the dog’s socialization training. On the one hand, this might cause the confident dog’s behavior to become more reckless, and its targets might extend beyond just the dog currently in front of it. This way of playing might seem insignificant to us and we might think that this is just how dogs play, but dogs definitely won’t think that such behavior should only be directed at other dogs. Once they transfer such behavior onto humans, it can cause a certain degree of harm to others. Therefore, dog behavior should be controlled within a safe range.

Good behavior is not only beneficial to oneself but also benefits other dogs. Dogs learn from each other, and once wrong behaviors are stopped, dogs will interact more politely and won’t mistakenly interpret enthusiasm as an attack or provocation, avoiding unnecessary trouble. Owners should pay more attention to this and usually keep an eye on their dogs to prevent their behavior from becoming too intense.
