Introduction to the Japanese Spitz Breed
Japanese Spitz (Detailed Introduction)
The Japanese Spitz originated in the 19th century and is also known in Japan as the Japanese Fox Dog. Although it is small in size, it is very energetic and easily excited. They tend to be suspicious of strangers and will bark, but they are loyal to their owners. They are particularly sensitive and alert to happenings around them, making them very suitable to be kept at home.
It is said that the original Japanese Spitz was a large white German Spitz, which was introduced to Japan around 1920 through Siberia and Northeast China. Subsequently, in 1925, Japan imported two pairs of white Spitz dogs from Canada, and until around 1936, Japan continued to import related breeds from Canada, the United States, Australia, and China. Eventually, the offspring of these dogs were crossbred to produce superior breeds.
