I have a pet dog, it seems to have fleas on its body, how to remove them? Are there any methods?

Method one:
When combing the fur of cats and dogs with a fine-toothed comb, fleas may get stuck in the comb teeth. Do not crush them but stick them on tape or put them into water with detergent to kill them. Crushing them causes tapeworm eggs inside the flea to fly out and may be ingested by the cat or dog when they lick themselves.
Method two:
Carry out thorough cleaning at home; any missed fleas or those fallen onto the bed should be completely removed with a vacuum cleaner.
Especially pay attention to corners of the room, edges of wooden floors, carpets, and blanket fibers. If fleas cannot be fully removed, hang insecticidal strips indoors or place insecticides under carpets and blankets. However, insecticidal strips are definitely flea killers but harmful to humans, cats, and dogs, so they should only be used temporarily when there is a flea outbreak at home and no other choice. Families with children, cats, and puppies are better off avoiding them.

Method three:
The method to eliminate fleas is to keep the cat or dog clean. Special flea-killing shampoos and care solutions are used to deal with fleas that can’t be completely removed by combing. When washing, wet from the head little by little to leave the fleas no way to escape.
Method four:
For cats that dislike bathing, use flea powder.
Flea powders for both cats and dogs may contain ingredients harmless to dogs but harmful to cats, so use powders designed specifically for cats. Separate the fur behind the ears, on the abdomen, and at the base of the legs where fleas may be, put your hand inside, sprinkle flea powder, then comb with a brush. Apply once every 2-3 days, do not apply daily.
Method five:
Take 250 grams of fresh citrus peels, cut them into small pieces with a knife, wrap with gauze and squeeze out the juice with a sour and bitter taste.
Dilute the juice with 500 grams of boiled water and stir well. After cooling, spray onto the cat or dog’s body, or soak a towel in the diluted citrus solution and wrap it around the pet. After one hour, all the fleas on the cat or dog will be dead!
Eliminating fleas
To effectively kill fleas, it is necessary to kill adult fleas and control the flea growth environment.
Killing adults
There are many flea-killing products on the market with different formulas, kill speeds, effects, durations, and usability.
If the cat is allergic to flea bites, use fast-acting flea medication to prevent continued bites.
Environmental control
Vacuum frequently and immediately seal and dispose of the vacuum bag; this greatly reduces the chance for juvenile fleas in the house to grow into adults. Thoroughly clean or discard all contaminated items, including the dog’s bed.
Others:
1) Use long-lasting flea medication on dogs or other flea-prone pets to kill adults and prevent egg laying.
2) Treat the home to kill fleas at different stages. This is difficult because larvae may be deep in carpets and sofas. It may be time-consuming and costly because the entire house must be treated, including all gaps and corners.
Vacuum before applying medication to stimulate adult fleas to emerge from cocoons. Follow medication instructions to avoid poisoning.
Pay special attention to places where the dog frequently visits, especially sleeping areas. Wash washable items thoroughly and sun them; discard those that cannot be washed.
3) Give all dogs medication that inhibits fleas becoming adults.
However, these medicines do not kill adult fleas.
Follow all instructions; some methods may take several months to completely eliminate fleas.
Long-term flea control
If all fleas, both adults and juveniles, are eliminated, adjust the method accordingly. If pets do not go outside, no further action is required.
If not, select a long-term flea control product, but use consistently without interruption.
Flea products
Sprays, powders, bath treatments, tablets, etc.
Sprays and powders have short effective durations. If the environment around the dog has flea development, fleas will quickly reappear on the dog.
Flea collars also have an effective period and need to be replaced timely. Some say flea collars have limited coverage and fleas may appear outside the dog’s neck area. The quality of flea collars sold domestically varies greatly; choose carefully (a post on Lucky Tumao website mentioned the main active ingredients should be: synergistic pyrethroid, pseudo-pyrethroid, carbamate, organophosphate, or one of the Aldoxime group).
Based on experience, domestic flea collars are not recommended, especially for puppies. It is also inappropriate to use if there is more than one dog at home to avoid mutual licking. Some dogs have experienced symptoms like loss of appetite and diarrhea from licking flea collars multiple times.
Bath treatments only wash off and kill adults on the dog’s body and are ineffective against eggs. Currently, two relatively safe, long-acting flea products in China are called Mie Chong Ning (domestic) and Frontline (imported).
The mechanism of both drugs: when dropped on the dog’s skin, the drug quickly penetrates below the skin producing mild toxicity. Fleas biting the dog are then killed by the poison. Because the efficacy lasts about one month, newly hatched fleas during this period will also be killed quickly. Based on domestic owners’ experience, these two drugs have the best flea control effects. However, note that Mie Chong Ning has strict dosage limits and should not exceed the instructions to avoid skin allergies. It is also not suitable for puppies under three months or pregnant female dogs.
Frontline is expensive but very safe and suitable for puppies and pregnant dogs.
New flea products abroad
There are several new safe and effective products abroad harmless to mammals, so they can be used for puppies.
Frontline (Merial) drops or spray; spray can safely eliminate fleas from puppies as young as two days old.
This medication kills adults.
Advantage (Bayer) drops kill adults.
Program (Novartis) prevents flea eggs from hatching. Given monthly by mouth or injected every six months. Fleas ingest the drug when they bite the dog’s blood but this drug does not kill adults.

Staykil (Novartis) spray used for environmental control to prevent flea larvae from developing into adults.
There are hormone-like drugs that inhibit flea larvae development (Acclaim 2000, made by Sanofi, or Indorex, made by Virbac) that can be used for environmental control by spraying where dogs live, with effectiveness lasting from six months to a year.
These drugs can also kill eggs. They are also made into sprays and flea collars to kill fleas on dogs.
Suggestion
Traditional flea medicines can easily cause dog poisoning. Some flea medicines for cats are also toxic to dogs. Using multiple flea medicines simultaneously may cause chemical reactions toxic to dogs.
Therefore, be cautious when killing fleas. If the vet prescribes flea medicine, other medicines, or anesthesia, inform the vet about any flea medicine currently used.
When there are no fleas, be careful to prevent dogs from getting fleas; if fleas appear, eliminate them promptly; but be very cautious when using flea treatments!.
