How to Train a Puppy? Being Young Is Not an Excuse
Raising pet dogs is becoming increasingly popular nowadays. Some people might keep many dogs so that they can play together at home. Besides ordinary dogs, there are of course newborn puppies. For such puppies, this period is the best time for training. If the owner wants to set certain requirements on the puppy's diet, exercise, and toilet habits, training can be conducted during this time. So how should a puppy be trained? Let’s find out together!
Puppies are born knowing nothing and rely entirely on our patience and guidance. Toilet training is also a major issue when raising a pet dog, so we can conduct training in this area. Owners can take puppies outside to urinate and defecate, and especially support this behavior so that they maintain the habit. If the puppy does not urinate or defecate outside the second time, owners can guide it more times. Puppies have very strong acceptance ability, so owners must be patient.
If you see a puppy urinating or defecating randomly on the floor at home, you must stop it immediately and command it in a stern tone to go outside to relieve itself. This way, the puppy will know that urinating or defecating arbitrarily inside the house is inappropriate behavior. When a puppy urinates or defecates in the place designated by the owner, the owner should also praise the puppy or reward it with a small treat to make it happy. When the puppy does not follow the owner’s command to relieve itself, the owner should not punish it. Training a puppy can only be done slowly; impatience will only make the puppy dislike training.
To prevent the dog from urinating or defecating frequently, we can also train the dog on the number of times it relieves itself in a day. The frequency of a puppy’s toileting can indeed be trained. If training continues, a puppy can be taught to relieve itself only three or four times a day, whereas untrained puppies might urinate or defecate more than ten times a day. Therefore, owners can train their dogs’ toileting frequency according to their own schedules.
