How to Properly Feed Poodles
Poodles (detailed introduction)

Poodles have a relatively short development period compared to humans, so they require a lot of nutrition from their juvenile to adult stages, but there are many points to note regarding meal allocation and portion control. Therefore, feeding dogs is also a key science.
  1. The lifespan of poodles is about 12~16 years. Due to the short development period, their nutritional needs are similar to humans. They need frequent supply of fresh water, protein, vitamins, fats, carbohydrates, minerals, etc.
  2. After weaning, young poodles should be fed four times a day. After three months, feed three times a day: morning, noon, and evening. After six months, feed twice daily in the morning and evening. Poodles have large stomachs; some adult dogs can get their daily required calories from just one meal. Poodle food intake should vary according to different individual poodles.
  3. Feeding poodles should be done to about "80% full." Every three days, poodles can be given some pig or beef bones to chew on. This supplements calcium and strengthens their teeth and bones. When feeding poodles, their constitution should be taken into account; otherwise, illness may occur. Although poodles love chicken bones, cooked chicken bones remain very hard. Sometimes broken chicken bone fragments can injure the stomach or intestinal mucosa and cause traumatic enteritis.
  4. The correct cooking method for chicken head bones is to cook the cranial bones thoroughly with a pressure steamer, then remove the beak and lower jaw bones, crush the cranial bones, and then feed them to the dog. Additionally, chicken bone soup contains a large amount of gelatin, which helps puppy bone development and boosts hematopoiesis, having a very good effect on puppy growth.
There are actually many ways to increase nutrition for poodle puppies. Changing the diet and controlling food intake during the poodle’s growth period greatly helps their growth and health.
Editor’s Reminder: Pay attention to the hygiene of the feeding tray and the quality and safety of the food during feeding. Ensure the dog eats clean and hygienic food, and try to minimize giving poodles food containing additives.
