How to Improve the Quality of Your Dog's Walks
Try not to choose too late a time for walks if you have time

Taking your dog out for a walk is not just about getting their body exercise; dogs can also learn a lot during walks. Walking your dog properly and continuously improving the quality of the walk has significant benefits for your dog.

When we walk, it's basically to let the dog run around and meet other dogs, while we generally don't need to worry too much about other things. To prevent dogs from randomly eating food off the ground, many owners stop their dogs as soon as they see them sniffing around. However, this behavior is actually natural for dogs, so there’s no need to deliberately stop it. We can let dogs sniff around freely, but if they start chewing on food on the ground, we should stop them early to avoid accidents.

Usually, we choose familiar places to walk our dogs. But if it's still bright outside when walking, you can choose places you’ve never been before. Dogs are usually more interested in new things, and a different environment may better stimulate their interest. However, because it’s an unfamiliar environment, owners need to pay more attention to avoid dogs showing excessive behavior toward strangers or other dogs. Try not to choose too noisy places for walks, and it’s also good to go out during less crowded times. Once the dog is familiar with the surroundings, you can also take them out during busier times to train their courage.

The walk shouldn't be too short and can be a bit longer to expend the dog's excess energy. After returning home, the dog is less likely to be excessively noisy, which may help with their rest. The length of the leash can be somewhat longer to give dogs more space to move but still within a controllable range, so that you are not caught off guard by unexpected situations. Although dogs have good night vision, it’s best not to choose too late a time for walks, as it doesn't help the dog become familiar with their surroundings.
