Golden Retriever (Detailed Introduction)
When your beloved pet starts unusual behaviors such as scratching ears or shaking the head, do not overlook that its ears may be uncomfortable due to abnormal discharge or unpleasant odor. How to clean and medicate your pet’s ears at home has become a topic of concern. How to clean the ears? How to apply medicine? What should be noticed? Below we explain how to clean and medicate your pet’s ears.
1. After observing abnormal ear discharge in your pet, it is best to first diagnose the cause
2. Use a cotton swab to collect a sample for microscopic inspection to identify the cause
3. Use an otoscope to check for abnormalities in the ear
4. After confirming the cause, clarify the medication duration and dosage, then clean the ear
(For pets with excessively dense ear hair affecting ear health, ear hair can be removed first)
Dog’s "L-shaped" ear canal
Instill a large amount of ear cleaning solution to fill the ear canal
Hold the ear flap and gently massage the base of the ear, then let the animal shake its head to expel earwax. Use tissue or cotton balls to wipe away excess liquid and earwax from the outer ear canal (do NOT use cotton swabs!). Repeat the use of ear cleaning solution until the ear canal is clean.
5. Apply medication (20–30 minutes after ear cleaning)
Medication site, close to the ear canal near the face
Notes: Owners should strictly follow the medication schedule to maintain their pet’s ear health and thoroughly clean the ear canal to prevent recurrence! Also, pay attention to the pet’s environment cleanliness to reduce harm caused by poor ventilation, humidity, parasites, and other factors affecting the ears!
