       When dogs get older, they are no longer as lively as puppies; their bodies may become thin or fat, and their shapes change. However, dogs truly feel they are aging once they enter their later years. Aging first shows in their eyes, nose, and mouth. Their eyes and nose become less sensitive, even foods they like become hard to eat, they react slowly and walk unsteadily. When dogs grow old, they need to be cared for gently. Elderly dogs’ teeth weaken, so they should initially be fed easily digestible soft food. When supplying dry dog food, add some warm water to soften it, or alternatively feed canned or wet soft food.

       Young dogs prefer walking and playing more than eating, but older dogs may not want to do this due to physical strength issues. Therefore, during walks, just let them stay by your side and do not force them to run; let them adjust the pace according to their will. In addition, elderly dogs need sufficient sleep; do not disturb them constantly so they get enough rest, and do not tease them like puppies.
