How Socialized Is Your Dog
Dogs Need Socialization Too

Dog socialization refers to the process in which an individual gradually develops a unique personality through interactions with society and adapts to social life via internalizing and learning role knowledge. It is well known that animals with higher socialization skills are smarter and can handle more complex problems. So, how socialized is your dog?

       1. Dog Socialization Assessment

If your dog shows any of the above situations, you need to pay attention. It may have socialization problems. It's best to take your dog for "socialization" training.

       2. How to Socialize

       1. Interact with Siblings

Interaction with siblings helps learn basic social skills. Research shows dogs that spend 4 weeks with siblings are easier to socialize. If special circumstances force an early home return, owners should interact more with the dog and avoid leaving it confined in a room for long periods.

       2. Leaving the Parents

Dogs generally adapt well. The biggest challenge after leaving parents is bonding with the new owner. When a dog makes a mistake, owners should avoid using "violence". The most effective method is guidance, helping dogs learn quickly without developing defensive behaviors.

       3. Sensitivity Adaptation

Dogs are highly sensitive, especially to sounds. Owners should deliberately train puppies early on with sounds like door closing, kitchen noises, TV, phone ringing, etc. Usually, distraction or soothing methods are used for sensitivity adaptation training.

       4. Going Outdoors

Dogs can go outdoors after their first vaccination. The world outside is exciting, but puppies may feel uneasy. Owners can encourage them continuously, starting with short trips and gradually extending, helping them adapt to the environment and human society. Note: Dogs may be weaker after vaccination, so owners should protect them. If unsure, wait a week before going out.

       5. Interacting with Other Dogs

Encountering other dogs is unavoidable outside. Owners should avoid overprotecting their dogs, such as always holding them or immediately taking them home when problems arise. These behaviors hinder social development. Let dogs try to interact and communicate with others by themselves, intervening only if negative signs appear.
